For orientation lighting, where horses need to see each other and their surroundings, a minimum of 50 lux is recommended. The brightness for supervision lighting should be at least 100 lux, and in areas where work with the horses is performed, such as when the farrier visits, a minimum of 200 lux is recommended.

The lighting should follow a circadian rhythm
Depending on the daily routines in different horse facilities such as riding schools, stud farms, racing stables, etc., it should be aimed for the lighting to follow a circadian rhythm that ensures the horses an adequate period of activity and rest.
As a starting point, the daylight period should not be shorter than eight hours, and the nighttime period should not be shorter than six hours.
