Light affects the circadian rhythm and hormonal response of sows. With correct BRUNSTLYS™, sows receive 200–400 lux at eye level for 16 hours daily, so that light level, positioning and rhythm support clearer oestrus signs and more consistent reproduction.

Light influences hormonal balance
Light is detected through the eyes and affects the circadian rhythm and hormone production. During the light period, melatonin is suppressed, while light stimuli support the processes that influence oestrus and ovulation. The difference between day and night is significant.

White and red light
White light for operations. Red light for quieter periods.
White light is used as the primary working and production light during the day. Red light can be used during dark periods, night inspections, moving and loading, where staff need orientation without the same level of disturbance as standard white light.

Provides overview, working light and supports activity, feed intake and daily supervision during daytime hours.
Red light
Can be used during night inspections and handling where light is needed for staff without the same impact on the pigs.
