Smart technology must be introduced into the barns for more efficient farming

The lighting control from NewroniX harvests the daylight, because when a sensor inside the barn registers changes in the incident light, the LED lighting is adjusted immediately, so that the desired lux is always on the animals.

In open stables, the use of Newronix already results in large power savings, but the team behind the collaboration, which consists of Rune Qvist Nielsen, Per Hartmann Christensen and Erik Midtgaard, has big ambitions. At Newronix, research is also being done into giving the animals vitamin D via the smart UVB lighting, in collaboration with DTU and with support from the Innovation Fund.

For CEO of RN Solutions and co-owner of NewroniX, Rune Qvist Nielsen, who himself is a former farmer, the development of smart lighting technology for the stables is his contribution to making agricultural production more sustainable by saving electricity and strengthening animal welfare.

-We have created a lighting control that is more intelligent than other controls. Among other things, we have received money from the Innovation Fund to develop the technique. But it's not just the energy-saving benefits that make Newronix interesting, because the entire system can be easily controlled via a smartphone, says Rune Qvist Nielsen about the product.

And it is important to Rune Qvist Nielsen that the user-friendliness is top notch, so that the technique can help make the working day easier for the farmer.

-You control the system via your phone. You just scan a QR code, and then you can control the system based on it. It also auto-calibrates, so you don't have to set anything yourself, and that's a huge advantage, so you don't have to spend a lot of time setting it up, explains Rune Qvist Nielsen.
